Best of Lafayette
Townspeople top survey list of local high points

Everybody in town ended up a winner in the WRTV-Channel 6 "Best Of..." contest in Lafayette.

According to people who filled out a survey for the Indianapolis television station that appeared in the Journal and Courier late this past year, what was the best thing about Lafayette?

The answer was the people of Lafayette.

Reid Duffy, the Indianapolis-based WRTV reporter, humorist and food critic, announced the results of the survey during an 11 p.m. newscast last night.

The story was part of a "Best Of..." series the station is running on several central Indiana communities.

Here are the winners in the Lafayette voting:

  • Best Place to Work: Eli Lilly and Company
  • Best Hamburger:
    Triple XXX in West Lafayette
  • Best Restaurant: Mountain Jacks
  • Best Ice Cream: Original Frozen Custard

  • Best Place To Take The Kids: Columbian Park

The Frozen Custard near Columbian Park is closed for the winter, but the ice cream still is available at Four Boys Manner, which is operated by the same family that owns the Custard.
